about

I wrote Torus after talking to a close friend who was struggling with an on again off again toxic relationship, and came away with this vision of escape, of stealing your life back from this cage, and of how time and mistakes tend to repeat themselves. I hope you like it!

lyrics

Let's plan a getaway
Yeah you yourself admit
You can't stay there forever

Let's plan a heist
To steal your life back in
The middle of the night

Cause time is often torus
And he seems his father's son

How many escalations
Before you'll go on the run

I've got a safety pin
So eject the sim
And buy a burner for the road

You've got a laundry list
Let's make a start on it
Before your feet become too cold

Cause time is often torus
And the mantle's taken up

You talk of living in the moment
But his past has got you stuck

So do you wanna live
Live in colours
That you've never fully known

Or do you live for it
A violent contrast
To the numbness when you're stoned

Cause time is often torus
He repeats your father's sin

And the clocks are turning backwards
So turn your back and get to living

Fletcher, James is a Bristol based singer, songwriter, and producer. Shying away from the path more travelled, he employs heartfelt and deeply melodic vocals laced with the wordplay of hip hop and layers them atop a framework of unorthodox song structures and lush chord progressions.

His debut album "All We're Meant To Do?" is out now.
